Star Wars: Maverick Introduced Next Week, Stretch Out Airplane Genre?
After what happened with Star Wars: Battlefront, which in its second series provoked controversy, both from content issues to poor microtransactions, EA did look to improve its 10-year exclusive partnership with Disney. They seem to have begun to understand the potential to mix powerful games on the narrative side, especially after the success achieved by Respawn Entertainment with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. EA actually still has a Star Wars game that stands under EA Motive. Games that seem to be introduced next week!
EA itself has not spoken yet. But two journalists - Jason Scheirer of Bloomberg and Jeff Grubb of VentureBeat share the same information: that on June 2, 2020 next week (local time), EA Motive will introduce their first Star Wars game. The game allegedly will carry the title of Star Wars: Maverick. Which is interesting? Through clue tweets thrown by Grubb and also information about beta testers from the Ace Combat community that had been asked by EA Motive in the past, it seems SW: Maverick will carry the aircraft battle genre!
Of course, neither EA nor EA Motive themselves have yet to speak up regarding this rumor and speculation. If it really ends, June 2020 will likely be an interesting month for the gaming industry. How about you? Interested in a Rogue Squadron-style Star Wars universe based game in the past?
